What each product actually is
Tai TMS is a US-focused TMS built for freight brokerages handling full truckload, LTL and drayage, sold with load-board and carrier integrations included. Cargavo is a TMS for freight brokers that turns a broker’s own negotiated rate grids into an instant purchase price and a marked-up sell price, behind a branded customer portal.
Short verdict
If your carriers quote through DAT, Truckstop, FedEx Freight, XPO, Estes or Old Dominion and you can absorb $995 per month, Tai TMS is the more complete system and its published price is honest about what it costs. If your carriers send you a negotiated Excel rate sheet twice a year, you work in EUR and you need to quote a customer this week, the integration list is not the thing you are buying — and 49 €/month with a 14-day card-free trial is a different order of commitment.

How much does Tai TMS cost compared with Cargavo?
Tai TMS is the one competitor here that publishes its whole tier list: $995 (Growth, 2 staff logins, 200 shipments), $2,465 (Premium), $4,595 (Premium +), $7,925 (Pro, 25 staff logins). Against that, Cargavo’s 49 €, 149 € and 399 € per month — 490 €, 1,490 € and 3,990 € per year — buy an organization, not a seat count.
Both vendors publish their prices, which makes this the rare comparison where nobody has to be taken at their word. Tai’s tier list on its own pricing page reads $995, $2,465, $4,595 and $7,925 per month, with Enterprise on request. Cargavo is a TMS for freight brokers priced at 49 €, 149 € and 399 € per month.
| Plan | Tai TMS | Cargavo |
|---|---|---|
| Entry | $995/month — 2 staff logins, 10 client logins, 500 carrier profiles, 200 shipments | 49 €/month — 3 members, 25 customers, 200 quotes/month, 10 grids |
| Middle | $2,465/month — 6 staff logins, 600 shipments | 149 €/month — 10 members, 150 customers, 1,500 quotes/month, 50 grids |
| Top published | $7,925/month — 25 staff logins, 2,500 shipments | 399 €/month — 30 members, 1,000 customers, 10,000 quotes/month, 200 grids |
The structural difference matters more than the ratio. Tai meters staff logins and included shipments; Cargavo meters the organization. A brokerage that grows from four to nine people changes tier on Tai and stays put on Cargavo.
What is the difference between Tai TMS and Cargavo?
Tai TMS covers the American brokerage workflow end to end — load boards, carrier APIs, billing, carrier bill audit. Cargavo is a TMS for freight brokers built around one mechanic: rebuild your own carrier rate grid, and the same engine returns the purchase price and the customer’s sell price.
Tai is designed around live capacity. Its value comes from the connections: DAT, Truckstop, 123Loadboard, FedEx Freight, XPO, Estes, Old Dominion, Macropoint, Trucker Tools and FourKites are named on its own site, with no per-connection fee. Quote to covered load happens on one screen, and billing and carrier bill audit follow.
Cargavo is a TMS for freight brokers designed around negotiated grids, because that is what a European road broker actually holds. Four grid models cover the road market: weight_zone (zones × weight brackets), pallet (price by pallet count × zone), mpl_bracket (linear-metre / LDM brackets) and hybrid_weight (a flat rate below a threshold, a rate above it). On top sit taxable weight with an LDM floor and a configurable volumetric ratio, configurable rounding, indexed fuel surcharge and options such as tail lift, ADR, ad valorem insurance and appointment booking.
From that one rebuilt grid, the engine produces two prices. The purchase price is what the carrier charges you. The sell price applies your margin rule per customer — percent, computed as p/(1-m), or absolute per bracket — and is calculated server-side. Your customer sees the sell price in a portal where your customers quote themselves, never the purchase price and never the margin.
Does Cargavo replace Tai TMS’s carrier and load-board integrations?
No. Cargavo has no carrier API and no EDI connection, and no load-board access. Carriers are onboarded by rebuilding their rate grid from their Excel or CSV sheet in a structured grid builder. If live load-board rates are how you buy capacity, Tai TMS does something Cargavo does not do at all.
This is the sentence most comparison pages hide, so here it is first: Cargavo ships zero carrier API or EDI connections today. It is not a roadmap tease and not a paid add-on — it does not exist. Cargavo is a TMS for freight brokers whose carriers work on contracted rates, not on live spot APIs.
Whether that is a deal-breaker depends entirely on how your carriers price:
- Your carriers send a negotiated rate sheet — an Excel or CSV grid, revised once or twice a year, sometimes with a fuel index. Nothing to integrate: rebuild it once and quote from it. This is the normal shape of European road brokerage.
- Your carriers quote live through a load board — DAT, Truckstop, 123Loadboard. Cargavo cannot read those. Tai can, and that is a genuine reason to choose Tai.
- Both — many brokers run contracted lanes plus spot. Cargavo handles the contracted half and leaves the spot half where it is.
Tai’s own pricing page states that direct carrier and load-board integrations are built in with no per-connection fees. That is a real advantage and we are not going to argue with it.
Does a European road broker need US load-board integrations?
Usually not. Tai’s integration list is built around DAT, Truckstop and US LTL carriers — a market a European road broker does not trade in. Tai’s site is USD-priced and English-only, with 2 staff logins at $995/month; Cargavo runs in four languages from 49 €/month, and prices in seven currencies from the Growth plan.
The honest answer depends on which market you buy capacity in, and Tai is explicit about the one it serves. Everything on its site is US-denominated and US-oriented: USD pricing, US load boards, US LTL carriers, a US sales phone number. Nothing there evidences EUR or multi-currency billing, nor a French, Spanish or German interface. A broker moving pallets from Lyon to Rotterdam has no DAT lane to read and no Old Dominion tariff to call — the connections that justify Tai’s price are connections to a market he never buys in. Cargavo bills in EUR, USD, GBP, CHF, CAD, MAD and PLN and runs in four languages, with quote references in the form Q-YYYY-NNNN and shipments as S-YYYY-NNNN.
Underneath that, the metering differs. Tai’s entry plan allows 2 staff logins; a six-person brokerage is already on a higher tier. Cargavo’s Starter plan carries 3 members, Growth 10 and Scale 30, and the price does not move with headcount inside a plan.
So does the buying motion. Tai’s site says: “Every brokerage runs differently. Meet with our team to review your workflows, business needs, and goals so we can help you find the right Tai TMS option.” That is a sound enterprise practice and a real cost in calendar time. Cargavo asks for an email address, gives you 14 days without a credit card, and expects you to rebuild a grid and quote a real lane on day one.
When the other product is the better choice
When is Tai TMS the better choice?
Choose Tai TMS if you broker US domestic freight, buy capacity on load boards, need 100+ live carrier and EDI connections, or want carrier bill audit and automated billing in the same system. Cargavo does none of those things.
Tai TMS is the better product for you if any of these is true:
- You broker US domestic truckload, LTL or drayage and your carriers are DAT, Truckstop, FedEx Freight, XPO, Estes or Old Dominion.
- You buy capacity on load boards and need live rates rather than contracted grids.
- You need EDI with carriers or shippers as a condition of doing business.
- You want carrier bill audit and automated billing inside the TMS.
- Your team is large enough that $995/month is a rounding error against the manual hours it removes.
In all of those cases, the honest recommendation is Tai, not Cargavo.
What Cargavo does not do
- No carrier API and no EDI connection. Carriers are onboarded by rebuilding their rate grid in a structured grid builder.
- Not a freight exchange. Cargavo does not find you a truck and holds no load board.
- No fleet management: no driver app, no vehicle planning, no eCMR, no telematics.
- No warehouse management and no customs filing.

How much does Tai TMS cost per month?
Tai TMS publishes four tiers on its own pricing page: Growth at $995/month (2 staff logins, 10 client logins, 500 carrier profiles, 200 included shipments), Premium at $2,465/month (6 staff logins, 600 shipments), Premium + at $4,595/month (12 staff logins, 1,200 shipments) and Pro at $7,925/month (25 staff logins, 2,500 shipments). Enterprise is on request. Verified 23 July 2026.
Is there a cheaper alternative to Tai TMS for a small brokerage?
Cargavo is a TMS for freight brokers at 49 €/month (Starter), 149 €/month (Growth) and 399 €/month (Scale), billed per organization rather than per staff login, with a 14-day trial and no credit card. The gap is explained by what Tai bundles into its $995 entry tier and Cargavo simply does not have: the 100+ carrier and load-board connections (DAT, Truckstop, FedEx Freight, XPO, Estes), carrier bill audit and automated billing. What Cargavo does instead is rebuild a negotiated carrier grid in one of four models and return both the purchase price and the customer sell price from it.
Does Tai TMS offer a free trial?
No. Tai’s pricing page lists four priced tiers plus Enterprise on request, and states no trial as of 23 July 2026; every call to action on it leads to a demo call with the sales team. That does not mean a trial cannot be negotiated — only that none is published. Cargavo’s 14-day trial is published, starts from the signup form and needs no credit card.
Can Cargavo connect to DAT or Truckstop like Tai TMS does?
No. Cargavo has no load-board access, no carrier API and no EDI. Carriers are onboarded by rebuilding their negotiated rate grid from their Excel or CSV sheet in a structured grid builder in one of four models: weight_zone, pallet, mpl_bracket or hybrid_weight. If live load-board rates are central to how you buy capacity, Tai TMS is the right tool and Cargavo is not.
